Meghan Markle speaks out and it is important

meghan markle

After Meghan moved to the USA with her husband Harry and child Archie, we hear very little from her, except when something really matters. This time Meghan teams up with Michelle Obama, speaking of a strong couple.

Michelle Obama and the Duchess of Sussex are celebrating the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage this week, although this anniversary is only partially worth celebrating as it does not apply to women of color. It wasn't until 1965 that America got the Voting Rights Act, which ended racism in voting rights. Meghan Markle calls in her statement that it is especially important to vote, to honor everyone who came before you and fought for this. “This is a fight worth fighting and we all need to be out there mobilizing to have our voices heard,” says Meghan. According to her, far too many women are still oppressed when it comes to voting rights.

She speaks at the couch party of the non-profit organization When We All Vote, co-founded by Michelle Obama, but also Tom Hanks and Kerry Washington, who are committed to improving the culture around voting in America. The whole UK is already in turmoil, as presumably there has never been a former senior royal (quite a mouthful) who makes such a clear political statement. Although it is of course not the first time Meghan does this, as let's not forget the visit of Trump to Queen Elizabeth.
