9x What we can learn from the Max Mara show

Max Mara show

Thursday in Milan always means kicking off with Max Mara. And no matter how the world has changed and how differently fashion shows are being shaped, at Max Mara everything seemed the same. The styling was still in the hands of Carine Roitfeld, the casting was done by Piergiorgio Del Moro, and camel, the signature color of the house, was the key color. And oh yes, as always, the entire collection was again the epitome of sophistication and coolness. Here’s an overview of the most striking things.

1. Hooray for Piergiorgio
Because where it used to be a search with a flashlight during Fashion Weeks for someone of a different ethnic background, inclusivity is also becoming an increasingly important agenda item here, and we see a diversity of girls.

2. Gigi was not there
Gigi is a favorite of Max Mara and regularly opens the show. This year she is absent because she was booked for another job: giving birth.

3. Pantyhose are back
And then in a low denier version and also in a non-descript pastel color. I must say: I think I’ll skip this one.

4. Camel is key
Of course, but how beautiful.

5. Large statement necklaces complete the look.

6. Opt for wide, flowing trousers.

7. The sleeve insertion is very low; where it normally happened on the shoulder and moved down over the years, you now find it roughly at the elbow.

8. The Dutch model Britt Oosten from Micha Models walked in the show

9. The monochrome look is everything. Nice and easy: you go for all black, all camel, or completely white.

And oh, how beautiful it was.
