Most read: Walking is so 2020

Because you probably haven't been able to read everything due to quarantine, lockdowns, and press conferences: this is one of our top scorers of the year. Grab the wine, truffle cheese, and your blanket, and enjoy reading back. Or cookies and chocolate, that’s fine too, of course.
It doesn't sound sexy, but I want you to give walking a chance. Millennials seem to be hiking en masse on vacation, I advocate for a simple daily stroll. I try to walk for about half an hour three times a week. Not a tame walk, but about three or four kilometers at a brisk pace. And instead of spending euros at a gym you never go to, this costs you not even an apple or an egg.
What walking does for you, with some necessary scientific backing?
1. A walk could very well be a doctor's prescription. It benefits your heart and blood vessels, lowers your cholesterol, and the risk of heart disease decreases with just one walk per week. No vitamin pill can compete with that.
2. With every step in the fresh air, you create space in your mind. Just make sure you are a bit unreachable, because if you are handling a business conversation in the meantime, it makes little sense. Research shows that it reduces stress, alleviates anxiety, and helps you relax. And all that just by taking a stroll, yes.
3. Did you know that all models walk? So does our Lily. With half an hour of brisk walking, you easily burn 250 calories. It seems to promote ideal fat burning and gives you lean and slender legs. You walk yourself into shape.
4. Walking is good for your bones. Yes, in the past you had to drink two glasses of milk a day, but nowadays you better take a stroll. Walking strengthens bones, ensures that cartilage retains enough water so you don't get nasty injuries, and makes your joints stronger. Plus point on plus point on plus point.
5. It's simple. Walking for half an hour to an hour a day may seem like a challenge, but it's easier than you think. Just calculate: a stroll during lunch, walking to work, or doing that errand on foot adds those extra kilometers. Just leave the car or public transport as it is. Do make sure to pick up the pace, because we are going for a high heart rate.
6. It doesn't cost you a fortune in gym memberships; just a nice walking outfit and you're good to go.
I actually don't understand why the rest of the world isn't walking yet...
