Must visit your own island in Copenhagen

Copenhagen islands and Adeline Mans in Copenhagen

If you've never been to Copenhagen: go. Of course, the city is bursting with culture, but the Danes are also creative and inventive. Reffen feels like an endless food truck festival with start-ups, and Nørrebro is the most sustainable street ever. But what I also missed during my last visit is that lounging on your own island in Copenhagen is also an option.

The phenomenon is called a parkipelago and serves the function of a park, as we know it. Enjoy lounging in your free weekend with a book, sipping some wine, and more of these extremely enjoyable leisure activities. The islands in Copenhagen vary in design; one has docks with a linden tree as the centerpiece, while the other islands have connected grassy fields where you can also barbecue or jump from on a warmer day. It is handy to have a boat to transport yourself, your company, and plenty of goodies to this green oasis in the middle of the city.

In Copenhagen, you can easily rent an electric boat to explore the city; this is also the easiest way to get to the popular Reffen or see the Little Mermaid, as it is quite crowded around her on land. Combine your boat trip with a visit to the Copenhagen Islands. You will find the little islands in the harbor, but also in more remote areas of the city. What a find, so it's no wonder the little islands are award-winning.

It seems clear to me: I need to go back. Parkipelago, here I come.
