Podcasts you want to listen to today

Now that we all have just a bit more time than usual during the corona period, I managed to fully binge-watch Netflix. Name a series or movie and the chances are very high that I have seen it by now. Time for something new, and then I discovered the world of podcasts. If you haven't yet entered the wonderful world of podcasts, I fervently hope that you will start. Why? There is always something to learn. Topics you've never heard of become mega interesting in no time: you suddenly want to hear and know everything about them. Annoying chores like vacuuming or folding laundry suddenly fly by and believe me: your life becomes a lot more enjoyable when you have to bike for a long time or walk that five kilometers daily. Whether you prefer listening to a thrilling story, an interview, or have a bit more need for newsworthy podcasts, I've lined up some of my favorite podcasts for you. If yours is missing or you have the perfect tip, please let me know via annabelle@amayzine.com.
LAURA H, the podcast
Journalist Thomas Rueb takes you into the bizarre story of Laura H. from Zoetermeer. The most famous Dutch Syrian fighter is found with her two children outside the caliphate of the Islamic State in the summer of 2016. Four episodes, in which Laura herself also speaks, and after just ten minutes you won't want to stop listening.
The fire in the mansion
Another thrilling story and the podcast hit of 2019. Simon Heijmans takes you into the incredible story of Ewald Marggraff. In 2003, landowner Ewald dies in a fire at his mansion in Vught. The house goes up in flames and he is found behind the front door. Ewald owned 700 hectares of land, an art collection of more than 500 paintings, and a fortune of 160 million. After his death, there is no trace left of the paintings or the money...
Man man man, the podcast
In Man man man, the podcast, Domien Verschuuren, Bas Louissen, and Chris Bergström search for their masculinity. Now you might think: what do I have to gain from that? Just listen for a moment, because through hilarious and vulnerable stories, they constantly ask themselves: how masculine are we actually? About dating, arguing, DIY, but also about saying goodbye and insecurity. A world of men opens up for you.
Oprah’s Soul Conversations
I was already addicted to her books, but after listening to her podcasts, I am truly converted. Oprah talks with well-known guests like Lady Gaga and Michelle Obama to discuss big life questions to get one step closer to yourself.
SEARCHING
In SEARCHING, the podcast, Marije Dijkstra and Naomi van Ree search for answers to all their questions about health and happiness. It may sound a bit airy-fairy, but it is not at all.
Pretty Big Deal
Presenter and plus-size model Ashley Graham talks every week with famous power women about what makes them a ‘big deal’. The conversations are pure and honest, and Ashley doesn't shy away from any topic.
The Daily
This is one of the most listened-to podcasts worldwide. Prefer to skip the newspaper? Then The Daily is perfect for you. In this podcast, the daily news is reviewed with you in half an hour. Perfect for during breakfast or on the go in the car.
