Selling Sunset: scripted or not?

I need to talk to you about everyone's guilty pleasure: Selling Sunset of course. From the same creators as The Hills and it presents itself as ‘reality’, but we all know that's not really the case. Okay, the fight between Lauren and Heidi was real, but do we all still remember that trip to Paris that Lauren let pass her by? Yes exactly, that was all fake. Whitney supposedly took over the trip, took a dramatic shot at LAX and then went straight back home. And we just keep empathizing.

So, my trust in reality shows isn't exactly high. Especially not when the creator is Adam DiVello — the man behind The Hills and thus also behind Selling Sunset. But I can transform into a real FBI agent and I have scoured the internet. Because what is actually true or not in the series?

1. Chrishell really works at The Oppenheim Group
Yes, this is actually true. While Lauren had an internship at Vogue where she did very little and Heidi never actually worked at Bolthouse, Chrishell is indeed an employee. In fact, she is also just listed on the site. And yes, she really has her real estate license. Not bad, right?

2. Christine and Chrishell really have a feud
This is also true. Christine is not on speaking terms with Chrishell, they do not follow each other on Instagram and yes, that cocktail was really called Christine Two Faced Tonic.

3. Only beautiful women work at The Oppenheim Group
Um, no. Well, yes, there are only beautiful women in this office, but there are many more than just the cast. And there are also men working there. In fact, they have a huge team at The Oppenheim Group. Just not everyone felt called to appear on screen (or did Netflix not want that?).

4. Christine met her husband because he was a client of hers
False. ‘I actually met him through a girlfriend of mine, but Mary spun this story that he was a client.’ Not a huge lie, but just juicy enough to give it a twist.

5. Jason and Mary really adopted a second dog
That they were a former couple I found striking — and that is also true by the way, but that they took a second dog together after their breakup (she was already with Romain) can't be true, right? Yes, it is actually true. But still a crazy decision.

6. They are all really real estate agents
Yes, they are all on the payroll at that Oppenheim Group. Davina has even become New Development Director. I don't know, but I still don't get the impression that they are taking their work very seriously there... But it is indeed their job. Hm.

Then just a few fun facts you might not have known: the house worth 8.9 million dollars (no biggie) in the hillside with that beautiful pool next to it, the low couch in the living room, that was not just anyone's. That was the former pad of Orlando Bloom. And Heather's new lover, that Tarek, he also has a show in a somewhat similar category: he flips houses.

Oh, and that little villa that was for sale for over 43 million? I hesitated for a moment but ultimately decided against it... In the end, it was sold. For 35.5 million. BARGAIN.

And last but not least: Romain still thinks Davina is stupid.
