Still something to celebrate? Going ‘out to eat’ at home is a hit

A celebration with your loved one? Your mom's birthday? Accepted for that cool job you applied for during corona times? Honestly: some moments just deserve a dinner. If it were up to me, there would be an occasion to go out every week, but hey: that's another story.

Now there's a problem. During the Covid wave 1, I was quite busy with the pans and seemed to have completely discovered cooking, during wave 2 I've been fucked since the discovery of the phenomenon ‘Eating Out at Home’. Yes, there's a whole website for it. It's a meal delivery service that targets the higher segment, especially in the big cities. And I did it and now I'm spoiled and I fear you will be too.

Seriously, this is ideal if you don't feel like spending hours in the kitchen but still want to eat something more exclusive than a pizza. You still have a bit of the luxury feeling of dining out, but then in your own garden or living room. Set the table nicely, light some candles: really, I find it completely cozy. I've also discovered that Eating Out at Home has many advantages.

Bring on those really good conversations
Where you sometimes still have to pay attention in a restaurant (before you know it, half the restaurant hears about the sexual escapades of friend X), you can fully let loose at home with the juicy stories.

Additionally: the wine flows abundantly, because hey: you're at home
Bring on that vino, you're definitely not the designated driver. Rrrrrrrrolling up the stairs.

Oh, and speaking of that wine: you also save a lot on it
We all know: in the hospitality industry, money is made on drinks, but at home you have that perfect bottle of wine that is completely to your taste that you just plop on the table. Nah, it's an invention.

Ordering cocktails is a party
How cool is it to effortlessly serve your sister a Pornstar Martini on her birthday? The passion fruit delivered in a small container, the egg yolk in another container, hatsa. You just have to serve the whole thing in a nice glass with a shot glass of prosecco on the side. Oh, Espresso Martini: also cool to order.

Oh, and finally: even the presentation is nice
Eating Out at Home delivers the dishes to your home; not on a scooter in sweatpants, but in classy transport and in waiter attire, presented right to the door. The appetizers and desserts are usually ready to serve on a plate, and you just need to warm up the main courses.

I'm telling you: I'm fucked. Did it twice this week. Whoops.
