The best sports lessons on Instagram

woman working out at home

’Isn't that something, I'm just becoming a fitgirl, then a pandemic comes along and takes over the world. Whole timing messed up. No, I wasn't exactly a fitgirl, but I did exercise three to four times a week and I do miss that. Running is hell for me, so I don't do that. So in these corona times I work out indoors. Attempt at corona-fitgirl? Hmm, I'll have to think about that name. Fortunately, many gyms, classes and other locations switch really quickly and have popped some workouts online in no time. And where else but on Instagram? By the way, I'm really curious about how long everyone has been on Instagram since two weeks. And just aimlessly scrolling and liking. Am guilty of it myself, mind you. Anyway, so we can all stay fit because the tutorials on the following accounts are really fun. Buy a mat online if you don't already have one, add a resistance band and some weights and for about thirty euros you can have your own gym at home.

1. Booty Club

My favo class until they moved from OneFit to ClassPass. I even added a separate ClassPass subscription for it. The name says it all: work that booty and you'll see real results. And you're also guaranteed to have real muscle pain. Normally, classes are held at locations such as Jimmy Woo, Chin Chin Club, 5&33 or Parq Studios (all in Amsterdam), but now just at your place. The girls who teach the classes are all really nice and their bodies are reasonable #bodygoals, which is definitely motivating.

2. The Gym Republic

This gym is around the corner from our office and around the corner from my home, so that was ideal. Now it's at my place, which is of course even closer, but a different atmosphere. Every day they do different classes online (at 6pm), so be sure to keep an eye on their Instagram for the schedule, because the classes are killing but mega fun. A booty workout or a full-body workout: something different every day.

3. People's Place Gym

For nothing, I am grateful for the corona virus, but secretly I like the fact that this gym now offers online classes (may you continue with it when this is all over, yes please). You see, this gym is in Tommy Hilfiger's office, in the Houthavens in Amsterdam. Particularly beautiful office and thus a ditto gym. Since I don't work there, I never go there, and a friend who does work there is always so enthusiastic about it. So now understand why: I try to do one of their classes every day and they are top notch.

4. Decathlon

Yes indeed, this sports shop is also participating in home sports and call it Home Sweat Home, which I absolutely love. On their Instagram and Facebook, by the way. In the first edition, 5,000 people participated at the same time, so you can call that a success. They thought so too and since then they have posted a workout online every day. And those are pretty tough, I can tell you.

5. Great

‘My’ previous gym where I donated gallons of sweat for 2.5 years (sounds nice like that), until I left them for OneFit. Sorry still, guys. But I still love you guys and this way I'm still kind of with them, via their Insta. You have super many options: bar classes, booty classes and my favo is a HIIT workout by Indi. Maybe I will join again after this corona crisis.

6. Vondelgym

I just remembered that I only tip gyms that are in Amsterdam, but then I thought right after that that doesn't matter at all because everything is online. This gym has several locations in Amsterdam by now and is also known as mister Arie Boomsma's gym. And when you see his body, you have to conclude that they train hard. Check out their Stories highlights and catch a workout.
