The espresso machine of your dreams

Latte Go from Philips and May-Britt Mobach

The days of the drip coffee maker are over. It's personalized coffee that counts. Here at the editorial office, it's no different. Adeline likes a strong espresso, Daan prefers a cappuccino with soy milk (and likes to top it off with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar), Lotte and I go with the flow, but prefer a macchiato with regular milk and switch to a lungo in the afternoon. Making coffee has become a moment. We want everything tailored to our wishes, including our coffee.

We were overjoyed when we received the LatteGo from Philips at the office. It's definitely the Hermès of coffee machines, with real beans and twelve types of coffee (latte macchiato, lungo, espresso, espresso macchiato, flat white, and so on) and within those choices, there are also three personalization options. Because who knows, you might want your coffee just a bit stronger, with a bit more coffee bean, less milk, and a bit less water. You can set all that up, and for regular users, you can also save that personalized setting. Couture coffee is born!

But when corona peeked around the corner again and we naturally followed the RIVM rules, I thought it was a shame to let the LatteGo gather dust, so I loaded it into my car and now it proudly sits in my kitchen. I still find it a pity that I can't have a flat white at a café, but now I'm my own barista at home. A cappuccino for my love (extra strong), a flat white in the morning, and an espresso for him after dinner, and a caffè macchiato for me, I have no problem with that.

What is also extra nice for us is that the machine is easy to clean. There is a separate water reservoir and a separate milk container. So you don't have to deal with those frothing tubes that you have to wipe clean and disconnect. I really get a hospitality part-time job experience. You only need to descale the machine after five thousand cups of coffee (without tiring you with technical information, because the LatteGo has a fantastic AquaClean filter that takes care of this) and thanks to the ceramic grinder, the beans never get a burnt taste (which can happen with metal grinding discs because they get very hot).

What is also convenient is that you can easily detach the milk reservoir and store it in the fridge with the lid on. Oh, and it also wishes you a lot of enjoyment with your coffee when you're done with your couture cup.

We affectionately call it the LotteGo, because our Lotte usually prepares the prettiest coffees, but the Philips LatteGo simply turns your kitchen into your own coffee shop. That's quite handy and cozy during work-from-home times. Although I promise to take it back to the editorial office when the work-from-home period is over. Let me be spoiled by Lotte and the LatteGo.

I would say: under-the-Christmas-tree goals.
