The finest restaurants that deliver at home
As a sixteen-year-old girl, I ran around in restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. Not to be confused with ‘going to restaurants, bars, and nightclubs’ by the way (although I was also skilled at that). As much as I love writing, my heart always sticks a little to the hospitality industry. And if anyone is suffering from the corona crisis, apart from the people who have it, it is them now.
Hospitality is hospitality is hospitality and they naturally have a creative answer to the corona crisis, restaurants are massively dark kitchens. Deliverers jump on their bikes and in their cars to deliver all kinds of treats contactlessly to your home. Minimal chance of corona, maximum enjoyment. Where can you order? Well, here for example. Let's all do home delivery once this week (or two or three), because every little bit helps.
RIJKS – Amsterdam
Even though the Rijksmuseum is closed, Joris Bijdendijk and his team are jumping on their bikes starting today to deliver RIJKS at home. An excellent idea, we think. Because now that we stay inside, we certainly don't have to live on frozen pizzas. You can order RIJKS via Deliveroo and UberEats.
Restaurant Viviamo – Woerden
A truffle risotto, crackling fresh pasta or would you rather sit on the couch with an antipasti platter? In Woerden, Vivian from restaurant Viviamo gets in the car to provide you with Italian delicacies accompanied by a bottle of limoncello.
Vegan Junkfoodbar – Rotterdam and Amsterdam
Even the vegan shelves are running low in the supermarket, but help is here for the vegans (or if you just like to eat delicious meat and fish-free). The Vegan Junkfoodbar is still going strong in Rotterdam and Amsterdam and delivers to your door.
EDGE – Woerden
I am now considering moving my house to the municipality of Woerden, because what a lucky bunch lives there. If you are looking for a tasty pizza, I would order from EDGE, where the Dutch champion pizza baking of 2016 slides a nice specimen into the oven for you.

And for everyone who doesn't know where to look, on Thuisbezorgd.nl and via Deliveroo and UberEats, the delivery options suddenly go through the roof. You help the hospitality entrepreneurs by having a meal delivered at home. Now hoping that they offer the entrepreneurs a corona discount to join, but from the first reports, it seems this will happen. Chapeau.
