These are by far the coziest walks in the Netherlands

Walking may have turned out to be the hit of 2020. Now I must say that in spring and summer I happily went out the door to make quite a few steps with that step counter, but with this dreary weather I find it harder. So I need motivation. And so I'm going to drink. Yes, it's that simple for me. Fortunately, I'm absolutely not the only one, as glühwein walks are the latest trend. Well, I would say: cheers and on y va. You can do these walks with a warm glass in hand, in the coming time.

1. Breda
Maybe a bit last-minute, but today there is still a walk including glühwein along various hospitality venues. Check this Insta for more info. I have good hope that this won't be a one-time event, and otherwise you can always walk the route yourself when it suits you.

2. Amsterdam
Amsterdam also has several glühwein routes; I personally find the one along the Noordermarkt and East the most fun. In fact, I'm going to do that second one again today. Hoppaaa.

3. Ermelose Heide
Most fun: walking with your dog over the Veluwe, sipping on a glühwein. DogWalkTrail Benelux has organized this route. Contact them for the possibilities. Please note that you need to form a group of four.

Of course, you can also just make glühwein yourself and take it in a thermos. Bring along some cardboard cups and go for it. Be sure to check these routes.

1. Hoogeveen (Drenthe)
Ultimate peace and really beautiful views. It's a route of fifteen kilometers so you'll be busy for a while, but it's more than worth it.

2. Breda
Again Breda, but different; this is just below the city. It's a route of ten kilometers and goes through a forest.

3. Groningen
If you prefer to wander through the city, then take this route. It's ‘only’ seven kilometers, so it's also great if you have less time.

4. Well (Limburg)
For the more experienced hiker, there is this route of seventeen kilometers. A particularly beautiful nature area where you can feast your eyes. The Netherlands can really be beautiful.

5. Hollandse Rading (Utrecht)
With a bit of luck, you might encounter some animals during this thirteen-kilometer long hike. Handy: you end up at the train station of Soest.
