This Netflix horror is so scary that people dare not finish watching it

The platform on netflix

I loooove some horror movies. The more gory, rancid, bloody the better. Never mind that I can't sleep afterwards. It's fun. And if I'm completely honest, I feel like we haven't been treated to enough films like this in recent years. Like Saw, Hostel, A Serbian Film (which was too violent even for me so I definitely can't recommend unless you really have nerves of steel) and even good old slasher films we don't get enough of.

BUT TODAY. Then I saw a film come along on Netflix that met all my requirements. Deadly scary. Gross. Nasty. And now online. Couldn't get any better right? I thought so too. I always do a bit of research before a film (because obviously I don't want to waste my time with a mediocre horror) and then I read pretty lyrical reviews on the internet. Or half-finished reviews, because not everyone dares to watch it. In fact, it was dropped quite often. I, of course, immediately changed my mind so I turned it on. It is called The Platform in English, but on Dutch Netflix it can be found as El Hoyo. Because it is thus a Spanish horror film.

A pretty sick Spanish horror film too, by the way. Here's the deal: a bunch of prisoners are trapped in a vertical prison. Each prisoner is on a certain level and have to get food from a platform that moves between levels. And so it's also about what people are capable of when they are hungry, or on the verge of death from starvation. I said it: pretty sick.

And seriously just scary too. Sometimes horror films are so gory that it almost becomes laughable, but this film really scared the shit out of me a couple of times. It is filmed quite darkly anyway, which makes it all very grim. And it is also really exciting. Seriously, I give it a big 8.5. A must-see for every horror lover.
