Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands of online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our chefs serve you: the recipe for peanut butter bread.

While everyone was obsessed with banana bread at the beginning of the quarantine and then with coffee mousse, the new corona kitchen hit is peanut butter bread. You read that right: it's super easy bread that actually already contains the peanut butter. Let's get started!

Ingredients

  • 250 grams of flour
  • 50 grams of sugar
  • 4 teaspoons of baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 325 ml of milk
  • 150 grams of peanut butter
  • optional: sesame seeds or peanuts

The recipe comes from an American cookbook from the 1930s, the time of the Great Depression. Back then, there was a shortage of just about everything, including eggs and butter. But the peanut butter in this recipe replaces both of those ingredients. Peanut butter, milk, and flour are the main ingredients. You can't go wrong with that, right?

Here's how to make peanut butter bread

  1. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees.
  2. Grease a cake pan or a loaf pan with a bit of butter.
  3. Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together.
  4. Do you have thick peanut butter? Then loosen it with a bit of milk. Then stir the peanut butter and milk into the bread.
  5. Scoop into the baking pan.
  6. Culinary mood? Sprinkle your bread with sesame seeds or coarsely chopped peanuts.
  7. Bake for about 1 hour until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Tip from experienced peanut butter bread bakers on the internet: a slice of peanut butter bread as French toast also works very well.
