Are you looking for something to watch tonight? At half past 8, the documentary about Djordy Latumahina will be shown on NPO3. If this name doesn't ring a bell (small chance, but it could): Djordy was shot dead at the age of 31 in 2016 while sitting in his car with his girlfriend and two-year-old daughter. This happened in the garage under their house. Soon there were many questions: why Djordy? He had zero connections to the underworld and had no enemies.

It quickly became clear that Djordy was not the intended victim. The actual target lived in the same apartment complex and happened to be driving the same type of Mini Cooper. An extreme case of wrong place, wrong time. His girlfriend Cherrisha was seriously injured and fell into a coma. She still suffers from muscle loss.

The story of Djordy was, understandably, big news in the Netherlands. The perpetrators received significant sentences in 2018 of up to 30 years, but that doesn't bring him back. Djordy's family and friends were always reluctant to cooperate on a documentary about his life (because that question was often asked), but they have now changed their minds. The documentary does not mention the perpetrators of his murder at all. I believe that should happen much more often. So often in a murder and/or attack on someone, the focus is on who the perpetrator is, while they truly deserve zero seconds of the spotlight.

So this documentary is a kind of tribute to Djordy, with beautiful footage of his girlfriend and their sweet daughter River. About what he meant to Amsterdam. He was a DJ, organized parties, and had an enormous circle of acquaintances.

Tonight at half past 8 on NPO3, and if you miss that: it will also be broadcast at ten o'clock on AT5. Check the trailer below, this is a documentary worth your time.
