Tips for the ideal work-from-home day

Working from home is almost the new office. If your job and role allow it, then you only need to join the traffic jam once a week and you can comfortably work from home. But, how do you organize your work-from-home day as efficiently as possible?
More or less concentration at home?
That’s the question. One moment it might do your workday good to work from home for a day, because you can work quietly on your own. On the other hand, being in the office actually stimulates you to get to work, for example, with colleagues around you. There is also a work atmosphere in the office. It is very tempting to do other activities at home, where there is no work atmosphere. Watering plants, baking a cake, doing laundry, or reorganizing a wardrobe suddenly seem like very useful tasks to do on a ‘free’ work-from-home day.
To organize your work-from-home day as efficiently as possible, you can best mimic it like a normal workday in the office. Therefore, it is useful to create structure and regularity as you are used to in the office. With these task list apps you ensure structure in your work-from-home day.
Mimic a normal workday in the office
First of all, get up on time to start. Are you normally traveling for an hour? If you get up on time and do your laundry in that hour, you catch two flies with one swat. You can also do some grocery shopping in the hour you normally travel. Try to also have lunch and stop working at the same times. This way, you stay in the work pattern.
Working from home is still working
Can your manager see your performance? Then he or she probably does that too. Therefore, make clear agreements about working from home and what is expected of you. Be realistic and look at which tasks you can and cannot perform during a work-from-home day. You probably agreed on a fixed work-from-home day with your manager. For example, because this way you can easily drop off and pick up your children from school. This does not mean that you do not need to arrange a babysitter and take care of your kids for an afternoon. Try to really minimize personal matters.
