True crime lovers: this is your new addiction

True crime lovers: this is your new addiction

So I bizarrely love true crime. I read about it non-stop on Reddit, was overly enthusiastic when the movie about Ted Bundy came out (although that might have had a little to do with the fact that Zac Efron had the lead role ) and I am waiting for the day we finally find out who Jack the Ripper was or the Zodiac Killer. Not the most uplifting hobby, but true crime is super popular so I won't be the only fanatic in this.

And what is popular, Netflix naturally jumps right in. So a warm welcome to my new addiction: Unsolved Mysteries. This name might already sound familiar to you, as it is a show that has been revived by Netflix. It was actually already on American television from 1987 to 2010. Quite a long time, and it was really a fun show (I have watched quite a few episodes online). With a loyal fanbase, who is now completely thrilled because Netflix has picked it up again.

Don't expect stories like the Zodiac Killer, but rather the lesser-known unsolved mysteries. These can be UFOs, but also for example a boy who is thought to have committed suicide — however, his parents believe he was murdered. I actually find those kinds of stories much more interesting to watch, many friends and family members get to speak, and the frustrating — but also the addictive — part is of course that it is not solved.

So you already know from the start that you won't be satisfied with answers, but I will immediately play out all of Google to learn everything about it. Not that it works any less frustrating, though. Unsolved Mysteries is incredibly detailed about all cases, but the almighty internet always has juicy details that they don't mention in the series. In other words, sleepless nights because I am researching unsolved crimes. Really a top hobby.

But hey, you don't have to be as fanatic as I am: a bit of a true crime lover will be very content with this. Season one is now fully online and I bet a second season will follow. Already my favorite of 2020.
