Beware: you can expect a (…)pic from this kind of types

A phenomenon that I have never understood and probably never will: sending unsolicited dick pics. The key word here is of course ‘unsolicited’. Why would a man send something like that to an unsuspecting person? What kind of reaction do you expect? Or is it just purely to shock? It fascinates me a lot, the whole thought process behind it.

It has kept people occupied in recent years. That's why The Journal of Sex Research took a deep dive into it. Who are the men behind these dicks? They came up with two options: two types of men who could send this. The first type is a man with narcissistic and sexist traits. The second type is a man who would literally have a penis for a head and thus constantly sends selfies that people react very strangely to.

You won't be surprised that out of the more than a thousand men who participated in the study, exactly zero fell into that second category. And of all the participants, 48 percent admitted to having sent an unsolicited dick pic at some point. Is it just me or is that really a high percentage? And that 48 percent exhibited unanimous narcissistic and sexist traits.

But their reasoning behind sending these photos... That's quite something, you know. 15 percent admitted to sending a photo to evoke a certain fear in the recipient. HOW SO. 15 percent really, I find that shockingly high. A large number also proclaimed that the sender of such photos would exert a certain kind of control over the recipient. Oooookeee... Moving on.

82 percent — yes really: that many — said that one motivation for sending their dick pic was also to arouse the recipient. Yes, 82 percent really thinks that those photos are an instant turn on. And 45 percent of the more than a thousand participants said they hoped to receive a nude photo in return.

What is surprisingly last is that only one fifth of the participants said they sent it for their own enjoyment. So it's not an uncontrollable horniness that causes them to send these photos, no, it's actually much worse. Grim.
