Weekend getaways in your own country: 5 hotels you want to try

From a classic where people keep coming back time and again to a handsome newcomer on the boutique market, I love hotels. You can't give me a better weekend than the one where I get to stay overnight. Sometimes I want to immerse myself in shops, coffee spots, and cafes, but something in the woods or at the beach to clear my head is also a gift. Breakfasting with a newspaper, having drinks at the bar in the late afternoon, or going to bed early, I enjoy it all equally. These five hotels are now on my list. For inspiration and to book, I'll see you there.
1. Beach Hotel Zoomers in Castricum
The decor is by HKliving and you are right in the dunes with a view of the sea, Beach Hotel Zoomers is a serious contender to end up as the first weekend getaway. I'm definitely a fan of hotels where you can buy the decor and products in a shop. This is also the case here. Just a minute's walk away is sister Beach Pavilion Zoomers, where you can eat and drink all year round. A nice reward after a walk in the dunes, I think.

2. Spa Hotel Bruin on Vlieland
A classic that I've wanted to try for years, the hotel, but also Vlieland. It seems that the island and Bruin have quite a few repeat visitors, which I find a telling sign. One to remember for winter then. Winter yes, because I love the winters on the Wadden Islands. After a walk where you almost get blown out of your clothes, it's nice to flop down with a book by the fire with a good glass of wine. I just don't need anything more.

3. Villa Augustus in Dordrecht
If you leave the smoke of Rotterdam and the Randstad behind and head towards Brabant, I would urge you to turn off at Villa Augustus. I love the restaurant, love the shop, love the garden, and I believe I could also become quite fond of the hotel. You sleep at Augustus in the former water tower of Dordrecht and thus also look out over the important rivers that surround Dordrecht. Prefer a garden? That's possible too, as they have special garden rooms. Whichever you get, they all seem to be just a little different, so there's plenty of reason to go back often. By the way, Dordrecht is really nice, although you don't actually have to leave Villa Augustus for your day's activities.

4. Villa Nicola in Amsterdam
In the mood for the city? Then we know another lovely address on the Nicolaas Witsenkade in Amsterdam. I would love to copy the interior one-on-one to my house and I have a picture of almost every room on Pinterest. You can choose between the Urban suite or the Garden suite for an overnight stay in the high-end B&B. Whichever you choose, you are guaranteed the best host in Amsterdam.

5. The Duke Boutique Hotel in Den Bosch
Ask me in which city I prefer to spend my weekend and I say: Den-Maastricht-Bosch. A matter of not being able to choose, because I feel both like a week of vacation. But this time I'm going for Den Bosch and that's The Duke's fault, where I would love to stay another night. I saw something with breakfast in the room, complimentary snacks, and nice city arrangements together with local entrepreneurs that you can benefit from. Makes an overnight stay even more fun as far as I'm concerned.
