What in the world is dry brushing and how does it work?

For years, two hung on a hook in my bathroom, but I always walked past them. I didn't really know what to do with them. Scrubbing your back under the shower with a bit of soap? Really nice and relaxing it's not. It became heavy and I always bumped against the glass shower wall. All quite awkward. After showering, I quickly hung them back on the hook, only to let them gather dust. Until I started doing some research last week. What turns out? I was just using it wrong all along. Now that I've moved to a new place in the city, the two brushes with extra long handles ended up in the trash, so I had to look for a new one. One that is a bit more compact and has better bristles.
