19x hotspots in Tenerife

tenerife hotspots

For me, surfing to foreign places on my laptop is one of the things (besides online shopping, chocolate, wine, making photo books, and daydreaming about the time when I used to travel every month) that keeps me going. Soon we will have the virus under control, the vaccine in our upper arm, and we will go on vacation again. And where to? Well, how about Tenerife? Not far to fly, beautiful weather guaranteed, and just a bit more anonymous than Ibiza where you run into someone you know in every restaurant.

I have already gathered some nice spots for you, in the category of anticipation.

 1. Where to stay

Ritz Carlton Abama
Think: service, a great view of the Atlantic Ocean, a spa, five-star service, views from the golf course that make you want to learn to golf immediately, and no less than two Michelin-starred restaurants; KABUKI and M.B. I don't need to say anything more, right? Just to let you know, especially since I found the price, for a Ritz Carlton, quite reasonable. Just check it out, it's all there in Tenerife.

San Roque boutique hotel
In the charming village of Garachico in the north of Tenerife, you will find this lovely place with uniquely decorated rooms. Think turquoise or terracotta walls, a gallery overlooking the pool (very photogenic), and a square pool in the hotel courtyard. I think it's delightful, delightful, delightful.

Las Terrazas de Abama
It has something of an oasis. Las Terrazas overlooks Gomera on clear days and is the getaway if you don't mind tranquility with a lot of luxury. Just be careful not to stay longer than planned, because it's almost dangerously relaxing.

2. The best beaches (and beach clubs)

Papagayo Beach Club
Beautiful beach club (white with dark wood) where you can enjoy breakfast and lunch during the day and party at night.

Bambù Beach Club
A beach tent without its own website, then you breathe laidback vibes. Just north of the capital Santa Cruz, open 365 days a year, admired for the food and cocktails and of course the sea.

Le Club Tenerife
I would choose this one at Costa Adeje in the south of the island. Parking lot, lockers, changing rooms, massages, workouts, Balinese beds on the beach, water sports facilities…

3. Where to eat

Restaurant Nub, just opened and located in Hotel Bahía del Duque in Costa Adeje. It has a Michelin star and just seeing a photo of the bread basket (I guess six types of bread in a basket) would make you want to get on a plane.

Restaurante Guaydil
In the cute village of San Cristobal de la Laguna, which is also on the UNESCO World Heritage list. An acquaintance with a lot of taste and style had lunch here and still says it was one of the best lunches ever...

Panzaburro
A very nice restaurant where everything that comes to the table is sourced from their own farm. Everything sustainable and based on the kilometer-0 philosophy. (all ingredients must be planted, grown, and processed nearby).

Some more nice restaurants and eateries:

  • Bodegas Monje
  • Casa del Vino
  • Bodega Altos de Trevejo
  • Hard Rock Café
  • Restaurante San Diego
  • Restaurante El Secreto de Chimiche
  • Restaurante Etéreo by Pedro Nel
  • Restaurante Jaxana

Hidden gem
I love little places without a website, just because they are so authentic. I'll give you another one (as long as you keep it to yourself…). It's called Art & Co in Puerto de la Cruz and is a bit concept store-like. You can have breakfast there and definitely buy something nice for home.

And another gem
The street art in Puerto de la Cruz.

4. And last but not least… Where to shop
Because a vacation is not complete without a few good souvenirs and items that remind you of that wonderful week. Or month…

Centro Comercial Plaza del Duque
Not very charming, but still a nice all-in-one shopping center with foreign allure.

Strolling in San Cristobal de La Laguna and La Orotava
For when you love browsing in small shops and touching everything in local boutiques. In Laguna and Orotava, you can spend hours.

I'm sold, guys, as soon as the gate opens again, I'm booking my tickets to Tenerife.
