An ode to Mike from MAFS Australia

An ode to Mike from MAFS Australia

The series that has carried me through the past lockdowns, coronavirus infections and now the curfew is definitely MAFS Australia. There are still so many seasons to discover, so there’s no end in sight for now. But it’s also the series that I, and probably 99 percent of people, have watched in a completely non-chronological order. I started with season 6, then 7, okay, then back to 5 and then 4… No. Logic. To. Be. Found. It’s of course mainly Videoland’s fault, you know.

So I started with season 6 and from then on I fell in love. So it’s been almost a full year that I’ve been completely head over heels. With Mike. MIKE. In my opinion, the coolest guy who has ever participated in MAFS. Ever. And that while I haven’t even seen the first three seasons. I don’t need to; Mike will still come out as the winner.

And yesss, I know: many found him a bit of a blunt jerk. Fair enough, he was, but maybe it’s just me — I found him at times quite charming too. As if he’s just a bit silly: he means well, but it often comes out of his mouth so clumsily.

Superficially speaking, I just find him a mega handsome man. Such an Australian, fit guy who lives for and on the beach. For me, a far-from-my-bed show (I live in the middle of Amsterdam and am terrified of fish, so I only swim in pools), but apparently it’s something I find incredibly attractive in a man.

Anyway, his whole appearance is charming. That body, I have no complaints about that. That smile, I melt immediately. You understand that I’m straight up arranging a move to Australia when he (fingers crossed) announces he’s giving MAFS one more chance. I’m here, Mike. As Dries Roelvink beautifully described: I coooome, I’m cominggg.

But the absolute best thing about Mike is… Heidi. How cute were they as a couple? He incredibly sexy, she beautiful, both head over heels in love with each other. And. Then. It. Doesn’t. Work. Tears streaming during the reunion when it was announced they were no longer a couple. When Mike said she had broken his heart. I refuse to believe that this just didn’t work between them. I’m sure that if you look up ‘Picture Perfect’ in the dictionary, you’ll find a photo of these two.

So makers, you know what you have to do. Either make sure Mike and Heidi get back together (that was quite a strong piece of matchmaking, I must say), or make sure he participates with me one more time. Unfortunately, I cannot approve of any other options. Thank you for your understanding.
