Coffee brewing talk: everything you need to know this morning

Since we no longer start the mornings with colleagues at the coffee machine, we do it remotely. The coffee chat moment. You can go ahead and turn on that caffeine brew, and I'll catch you up.

Quarantine obligation and access tests: these rules come into effect today

Time for a travel update. All Dutch travelers must quarantine from Tuesday, June 1, when returning from a so-called risk area. But what does this all mean? In short, the quarantine obligation means that when you return from a country designated as a ‘very high risk area’, you can no longer ignore the advice to quarantine. So, stay home for ten days, or you can shorten the quarantine by showing a negative corona test on day 5 after returning home. If you don't do that, a fine of 435 euros will be hanging over your head from today. Additionally, from today, the Temporary Act on Corona Access Passes comes into effect. This allows the government to determine for which activities (oh come on, can we festival again?) a proof of negative corona test is necessary.

There was a little thing last night in Beau's talk show

Long story short: JesusLives politician Florens van der Spek was a guest and it was Beau's task to steer the ‘vaccine conversation’ in the right direction. When the guests seemed to disagree and even started talking over each other, Beau lost his temper. “Everyone keep quiet for a moment!” he shouted during the live broadcast, followed by: “no really! I'm completely done with this! You can keep laughing, but when I ask you to be quiet, you just have to be quiet for once.”

Beau, as far as I'm concerned, you are one of the best in your field. Precisely because of your sincere human reactions, and then taking responsibility. “It got a bit heated in the show tonight...’ Beau writes on Instagram. ‘I lost my temper with Florens van der Spek (who does not want a vaccine for religious reasons), because the discussion, in my opinion, derailed. Afterwards, I apologized to him again, because calling someone to order so roughly is not decent.’ Meanwhile, everything seems to be fine again between the men. ‘But we made up and I received the Statenbijbel from him! I will have to look it up, but it surely says somewhere that he who raises his voice cannot find the right words. And that's how it is!’

More sex toys than EVER are being bought during this time

Blame it on the pandemic, but EDC Retail (the parent company of Easytoys among others) announced this morning that never before have so many people in the Netherlands ordered sex toys from them. In the first quarter of this year, sales were 95 percent (!) higher than in the same period last year. Over four hundred thousand erotic items were sold in 2020. The curfew led to an extra high sales boost, and due to the lockdown, toys that you can enjoy remotely via an app became increasingly popular.

Ending with the best part: the bed cinema is a thing now

So you thought you were starting to miss those red soft chairs? What if I told you that the cinema experience can be even cooler? After more than 200 days (forced) of watching movies from bed, something brilliant is coming with the reopening of cinemas and theaters: the bed cinema. On June 7, the very first bed cinema in the Netherlands will open in the Houthavens in Amsterdam. Movie fans can fulfill their biggest dream here; lying down to check out your movie on the largest screen in the Netherlands. Oh, and food and drinks? You will be served right on your luxury box spring. Unfortunately, this grand plan is part of a temporary stunt, from June 7 to 23. Want to catch a movie lying down? From this afternoon at 3:00 PM, you can reserve online a bed for a maximum of two people.
