Want to taste: the hamburger toastie

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: the hamburger toastie.
Toasties, I LOVE them. You can really make me incredibly happy with a ‘simple’ ham and cheese version, but the chicken satay toastie remains a favorite as well. Or a French melt toastie with caramelized onion: incredibly delicious! Goat cheese and truffle honey... Toastie chicken tandoori... And, wait, don't forget the pantosti with Gruyère and red wine. The options are endless, but today I want to tip one that is currently number one for me: the hamburger toastie.
Preparation: 5 min
Preparation: 5 min
Servings: 1
INGREDIENTS
2 slices of bread
Ox sausage
Onion
Cheese
Mayonnaise
Ketchup
Optional: tomato and cucumber
Now that sounds crazy anyway, but it is also incredibly tasty. And seriously: it is ready in no time.
Ideal hangover food or just as lunch
Hey, it's Friday: so we can always have a more elaborate lunch, right? Or well, more elaborate... In any case, unhealthier. And no worries: you don't have to make the hamburgers yourself for this recipe. No, you just use ox sausage. Side note: you can also make it as a panini instead of a toastie.
Okay, the steps (as far as there are any):
- Spread mayonnaise on the inside of one slice of bread.
- Place the onion, optional tomato and cucumber, and a thick layer of ox sausage (evenly spread over the slice of bread) and pepper and salt to taste on the other slice of bread. Finally, add as much cheese as you like (I love a lot).
- Place the top (with mayonnaise) on top and for that extra touch: also put some mayonnaise on both outer sides. Especially if you make it in the pan.
- Et voilà: just bake or grill!
- Customize to your liking. You can customize it however you want: you can put ketchup in between, but I personally find it tastiest to dip it in ketchup. Satay sauce in between, why not, also very tasty. Or mustard. As I said: the options are endless.
And if you have leftover hamburgers, that works too instead of ox sausage. But this is definitely the easier and quicker version. Enjoy your meal!
