These 11 things you can get at the foreign McDonald's

McDonald's food

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: 11 things you can get at a foreign McDonald's.

Just like you can't order a McKroket in Dubai, they keep the Chocolate Filled Donutballs to themselves. And it doesn't stop there. Why can't we order a Dosa Masala Brioche? Or a Le Double Blue Cheese & Bacon?

You may have your opinions about increasing globalization, but when it comes to food, it doesn't go nearly far enough in my opinion. It's logical that a company like McDonald's doesn't try to explain the McKroket to the whole world – vague meat in gravy with a crust on a bun is what they call an acquired taste – but it's still unfair that we have to do without McCurrywurst or Big Brekkie Burger? McDonald's management, let's pay attention: here is my wish list.

Switzerland: McRaclette
In Switzerland, McDonald's has a McRaclette on the menu. Exactly what you expect: cheese, cheese, and more cheese. And then on a bun with a burger, with a special cheese sauce, onion, and pickle.

France: Le Double Blue Cheese & Bacon
Explanation unnecessary, because all cheese and burger lovers are already drooling at the name of this burger. Okay, here it comes: two burgers, blue cheese, crispy bacon, fried onions, and a touch of mayonnaise. Well done, over there in France.

Italy: fried olives
Nuggets, but made of olives? Just order six or nine at the McDonald's in Italy. They are green olives, filled with a bit of minced meat, in a crispy crust and then (of course) fried. I want it!

Portugal: Signature Brie
Portugal takes the crown. Their Signature Brie is a burger with a thick slice of brie on top. With extras like honey-mustard sauce and lettuce, but it's all about: BRIE! On a burger!

Malaysia: McFlurry Durian
In Malaysia, there is a McFlurry with Durian flavor. The durian is the fruit with the most terrible smell in the world, but still... with vanilla ice cream... Apparently, people have to eat this McFlurry outside.

Japan: Gracoro burger
In Japan, you order a Gracoro burger, which is a hamburger-like situation made of macaroni, cream sauce, and shrimp. A McKroket-like burger is made from it. Bun around it, coleslaw underneath, and enjoy.

Dubai: Chocolate Filled Donut Ball
Perfect with coffee, advises McDonald's Dubai: the donut with warm chocolate in the middle. But they also have a round brownie or a banana-chocolate muffin on offer. Import those things, come on!

Chile: McPollo Italiano
On vacation in Chile, I sprint to the nearest McDonald's because they have the McPollo Italiano, a McChicken with guacamole, tomato, and mayonnaise. What it has to do with Italy remains a mystery, but it sounds divine.

Australia: Big Brekkie Burger
Australia, good morning! There you order the Big Brekkie Burger for breakfast. In one bite, you get the whole breakfast buffet inside, because on a toasted bun sits a hamburger with a potato croquette, egg, bacon, barbecue sauce, and melted cheese. Available until 10:30 AM.

Germany: McCurrywurst
McCurrywurst is, you guessed it, on the menu in Germany. The pieces of currywurst – made from chicken in this case – are served in a cardboard container with a creepy amount of curry sauce. Seems definitely feasible for the Dutch market, right?

India: Dosa Masala Brioche
And that Dosa Masala Brioche? Sounds like a dish from a Michelin-starred restaurant, just comes in one of those cardboard boxes from McDonald's. At least, if you're in India. A masala dosa is a pancake made of rice and lentils with a spicy potato filling. And you get chutney with it. Intriguing...
