Expedition Robinson: the aftertalk
Last night was it again Second Chance night. And I was actually a bit surprised about that, because I really thought that the last episode ended with the prospect that the two (actually three) camps would come together? Or was that just really wishful thinking and did I imagine all that? Anyway, last night it was the Second Chance camp, the oldies, the veterans, and I thought it would be boring. But that was until John de Bever came blowing in.
1. Wow, Saar: eleven years ago? She just hasn't aged in the meantime or something?
2. Italian scenes? PIZZA. It must be pizza, right? Although... How does pizza stay warm if they search for hours? Although cold pizza is still just pizza.
3. Well, that's really sour too, you come second, you find out where the food is: it's still written down so awkwardly. Three thousand fallen trees, the producers could have made this a bit easier.
4. Whuuut. Macaroni? I would seriously get pissed if this was my prize. Sure, it's Expedition Robinson, but dry macaroni makes no one happy.
5. HAHA. Soooowieso that Wietse exclaims ‘John de Bever!’ because he already feels that no one recognizes him and that’s pretty sour when only celebrities are supposed to participate.
6. ‘Wietske from 538.’ Aah nooo, with the only one who recognized you, you do this, John. That can't be.
7. John is a bit like that crazy uncle who drinks just a bit too much at every birthday party and actually doesn't listen to anyone but loves to talk.
8. ‘Hey Wietske, can you pour me a beer, please?’ I can totally picture it.
9. As someone who is often accidentally called Wietske, I feel this right in my heart.
10. Wow, what's happening with JayJay? I would have been lying down horizontally if I had gotten such a sore scratch. I am clearly not Robinson material.
11. ‘Stefano, with that mustache, he's ten times smarter than I am.’ Hold it in, hold it in, hold it... IT IS THEN. Then! Oh, the irony.
12. So John, don't make a murder pit out of your heart, okay? Immediately burning everyone down might not be the smartest tactic.
13. Never before, in all of Expedition Robinson, have I seen someone campaign so fanatically and openly to vote someone else out.
14. You can say what you want, but John de Bever is definitely the ~main character~ this episode.
15. ‘Just one more piece of advice: I would vote for Rob.’ *camera goes to Rob* *Rob looks unbothered* Wow, that John really goes in hard.
16. Joooohn, HAHA. Chill out. ‘You can also go home, you know? You can also go home.’ I'm seriously starting to feel sorry for Rob.
17. Aii, this entrance is even a bit worse: I don't think anyone knows who Sieneke is now.
18. Well, it's clear that John is going home — but that was to be expected. It's actually a shame that the newcomers are often sent home right away.
19. Eh, what am I saying — home? What's happening with this season? Is it just no longer possible to go home?
20. From elimination island, to Second Chance island, back to elimination island. And then? If you win, back to Second Chance island? And if you get voted out again, back to that elimination island? Is the logo of this season an infinity symbol, by chance?
21. Plus point: then we will see again next week how John and Eva fight each other out of their tent on their uninhabited island.
22. Can someone give me subtitles of what was uttered by... Annemiek? There are so many participants this year that I can hardly keep them apart.
23. And then you wonder: did people on Twitter have something to say about it too? Quite a bit. They mostly had things to say about John actually. But to be honest, he was also the only one we saw this episode.
