Expedition Robinson: The Aftertalk

It feels like I've been working on this one season of Expeditie Robinson for years now, but it's only episode 21 and I don't think the finale is anywhere near. I'm very curious about how the men's beards will look at the end of this long journey. Day 22, episode 21, let’s gooo.

1. Jan is the first winner ever who thinks it's perfectly fine on Winner Island. Preferably no bed, no food, and people around you. I love Jan.

2. Do introduces herself as Dominique. Now it suddenly feels very intimate when I call her Do.

3. No, no: Dyantha wasn't necessarily voted out, Dyantha wanted to leave herself. A significant difference.

4. Oh nooo, the elimination race has really begun now. That the winner ultimately takes the season because someone voluntarily quits every episode.

5. HA, a challenge I could have done because I was addicted to an iPhone game for a while where you had to do exactly this.

6. Love this season if Jan becomes the ultimate winner by just hanging out on Winner Island for the last half. I would be totally okay with that.

7. Creators, just give us a reality series with Jan. Maybe with guest roles from Jayjay and Sterrin and then after each match a post-game discussion with Yuki. I would be immediately addicted.

8. ‘One step closer to the finale.’ I honestly forgot for a moment that there will eventually be an end. We are at episode 21 and I really feel like we are not ready for the new year yet.

9. Behind the scenes, they are also a bit done with it. No more those hours-long challenges, no, hold your breath, otherwise you're out. Done is Kees.

10. This is how the wheat is separated from the chaff. In other words, the smokers and the non-smokers.

11. Oh just kidding, it could still take quite a while. This is just another challenge where I would fail within a few seconds.

12. Holy fuckers, how cold is that water? When you're shivering like that, it feels more like a Wim Hof challenge than holding your breath. Suffering, this.

13. #durftevragen: why did Loek keep his head so low? Isn't that the only way to get as far as possible in this challenge?

14. Because the real challenge actually only starts when everyone is underwater. I'm probably not the only one who participates from the couch in holding my breath and really fails hard.

15. Wow, this was also the only way Jasmine wouldn't get eliminated this episode, otherwise they would have kicked her out immediately.

16. Nooo, Yuki, just listen to me. Don't use your extra vote now. You'll regret it.

17. It's still fun and also a bit exciting when the two alliances have the same number of people and the people really don't realize that René and Britte know each other very well.

18. And Loek feels a bit like the puppeteer while I suspect he's heading home.

19. What a mindfuck that camp seems to be, you never really know if people are going to screw you over.

20. And they only talk about which strong players they need to vote out and I only think about who I like to watch.

21. This is the first time I really have no idea who is going home. If Loek uses his immunity ring, everything is of course up in the air. Finally. SUSPENSE.

22. Hey, by the way: why doesn't Loek get an extra black vote because he was the first to drop out? Then you wouldn't have had all this fuss with the equal number of votes. Or do the creators really come up with different and/or new rules every episode?

23. Last week Loiza left and no one had to go home. Now Defano is leaving and someone does have to go home. Lovely how consistent the creators are this season with all the rules…

24. Ooooh Anouk. Sly, sly fox. Just hobbled over to the other camp. Delicious, this.

25. Okay, quick estimate: at which episode will the two camps be merged? I'm guessing number 40.
