For when you are completely fed up with working from home

Just one work week and then it will be a year. A year since we crawled together around my Mac in the editorial office to watch Rutte's afternoon press conference. Stay home, was his message. I still see us waving at each other, there in front of the office door. What would it be? Until two, three weeks from now? Well, that turned out a bit differently. That's why I have a suggestion for you, if you're completely fed up with that home office after this year.
A different wallpaper, as a friend of mine calls it. It's not that you don't have a nice house, because nowhere do you walk around in your birthday suit more comfortably than there, but sometimes the kitchen table is just too much. Normally, I would sit in a café, where I magically write a whole work week in one morning (true story) or leave for a vacation. Only everything is locked down, so I had to look for an alternative. Well, I found that alternative. This week I'm working from Zandvoort, you know, by the sea. They call it remote working, that's chic for packing your stuff and typing somewhere else, and it's quite nice.
How it works, because I am working. I still get up at the same ungodly early hour this week, six o'clock to be precise. First meditate, then coffee and smoothie in cups and stroll towards the beach at leisure. Qurios Zandvoort is located on the boulevard, so even if you have the back house (which is nice and quiet), you are on the beach in a split second. This time of year, the sun rises between seven and eight o'clock, so make sure you're on time. Breakfast ready with sunrise? Then you go back to the house and get to work. By the way, they are spacious houses, with a terrace in the dunes, allowing you to work with your laptop on your lap out of the wind and in the sun at just 13 degrees. Not ergonomic, but I don't care, it's really nice.
In those few hours in the morning, you can get a mountain of work done, because you want to take a walk by the sea around lunchtime, of course. You don't need more motivation than that. While walking, you can immediately grab a sandwich from the bakery or some fish from the stall, because you shouldn't forget to feed the inner person while remote working. Remote, I think it sounds very global while we stay at home. In the afternoon, a few more hours in work mode and then at five o'clock, an alcoholic treat in the backpack and back towards the sea. You won't see more beautiful sunsets than there at that moment. While enjoying some wine, you literally see the sun sink into the sea. There's nothing more beautiful than that. Around seven, you're back in your condo, where you can leisurely cook or get takeout.
How come this works so well for your head? Well, you not only have a different environment to immerse yourself in, but your routine also gets shaken up. And routine works, don't get me wrong, but you quickly run the risk of it becoming a rut. Especially if you've been having breakfast, working, lunching, working, eating, and learning Greek at the same kitchen table for a year. Yes, I intended to pick up something during this second lockdown.
Do you want this too? At Roompot you have midweek deals for soft prices all over the country by the sea. You really get away from Monday to Friday, without missing that work week. I would go. What am I saying? I'm already there. And soon I'll see the sun sink into the sea again.
