Good news for vegans: Lidl expands its range

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: good news for vegans: Lidl expands its range.
Lidl doubles the range of plant-based dairy in the supermarket. Oat drinks, vegan cheese, and even a plant-based alternative to crème fraîche: it's all there – and for a modest price – in the supermarket's refrigeration.
Sustainable food should be affordable for everyone, believes Lidl. In Belgium, Lidl even abolished ‘sustainable’ and only calls it ‘sustainable’, because those products shouldn't be expensive. Whatever they call it, the supermarket is well on its way to becoming increasingly sustainable. Last year, they placed many more meat substitutes in the store and opened a super sustainable supermarket with solar panels, charging points for electric bikes, and plenty of space for nature around the store.

Oat milk
The products are of course not just for hardcore vegans. Oat milk in your coffee is really delicious, and that coconut yogurt and the oat drink with mango flavor also sound wonderful. There are also slices of ‘cheese’ in the range, and grated vegan cheese. The taste? Previously, we were surprised by bizarre flavors of vegan creations. Some substitutes are downright terrible, while others are a pleasant surprise. It's a matter of trying them out.
Accessible
In developing the products, Lidl collaborated with the Vegetarian Association and V-Label Netherlands, the vegetarian quality mark. They say: ‘Through our collaboration, we ensure that the vegetarian or vegan choice becomes increasingly accessible.’
