I tried hash to solve my sleep problem

Sleeping has always been a challenge for me. Don't get me wrong: I enjoy it, really. It's super fun even. Once I start doing it and keep doing it. Because falling asleep and staying asleep... I think it's a gift if you can do it. I can't manage it and I've never been able to. You could say a plus side is that I'm used to sleeping less hours and during my student days, I really made the most of that, but now that the Big 3-0 has hit (and honestly, those years before that too) it's no longer a handy little thing.
And as you know: if you might also have (had) trouble sleeping, you often start with melatonin as a standard. I was already quite skeptical about that and then I decided not to do any research, which resulted in it becoming a complete fiasco. What turns out: if you take too much melatonin, you get a counterproductive effect, so then you can't sleep at all anymore. HAHA. And I kept thinking: hoppa, I'll take a bit more because it really doesn't work. Well, when I finally got the right dose (around 3 mg), I still found out that it didn't work wonders for me.
The same goes for sleeping pills: they worked, but they are very addictive (and you can quickly become addicted after a week of daily use — that really shouldn't happen) and also not really a solution. Now I also got nightmares from that, blackouts (SO. Much. Online. Shopping) and I also woke up feeling quite groggy. On to the next option, I just didn't know what that was.
Then a friend of mine suggested if I wanted to try hash once. He had also had sleep problems and this worked great for him. Let me clarify that I've never been a stoner. At my high school, they always gathered around the skate park and you could usually find me in the cafeteria where the food was.
So my first thought was: no way, that's really not for me. But I was desperate. After five hours of sleep in three nights, I looked about how you would think (it was not pretty) and I called him: bring that joint over.
So last night, my inner sixteen-year-old felt very rebellious and I lit that joint, expecting it to have a mega impact (“no, that's weed,” my friend told me). Well, that kick didn't come, but I was still relaxed, man. I watched a Netflix series and was so content.
For convenience, I had put on The Office, because yes, that's always fine, but I couldn't really tell you which episodes I watched. I was completely zen, half asleep, staring a bit into space. And especially very zen and very content with the way things were going. But did I sleep better? Nah. But it bothered me less.
Final verdict: 7/10 would recommend, next week I'm going to try something else for sleep problems. Suggestions are more than welcome.
