If you recognize these 13 points, you are a Grinch

Some people just like Christmas more than others. While the Christmas enthusiast is in a good mood throughout December, the Grinch only starts to speak again in the new year. I think I fall somewhere in between. I always dread these days, but in the end, I find them cozy and nice. So for me, it's not really necessary to abolish this celebration. However, there are also Christmas haters at heart who would prefer to see this happen. Are you one of them? Maybe there's a Grinch lurking in you without you realizing it. If you recognize the 13 points below, we can say that you are a Grinch.

1. The thought of Christmas makes you more gloomy than happy
Christmas is not a pleasant time for everyone. Perhaps you always miss a loved one around this time, which makes it hurt even more and brings sadness. Or you just find it boring. Christmas is simply not meant for everyone.

2. You get annoyed by cheerful people on social media
All those photos and videos of happy people and their Christmas trees annoy you the most. And what people eat during their Christmas dinner? You couldn't care less.

3. All those sickly sweet Christmas commercials evoke irritation instead of tears
All that commercial nonsense surrounding Christmas is actually quite annoying to you. The whole month we are bombarded with Christmas commercials, and you don't like it at all. On television, the laptop, or phone: unfortunately, there's no escaping it.

4. You constantly complain about the cold
A white Christmas? That certainly doesn't make a Grinch happy. A cold winter with a blanket of snow is a dream for Christmas lovers, but a true nightmare for the Grinch. Throughout December, there is a lot of complaining about the cold.

5. You prefer not to leave the house
You would rather lock yourself up the whole month of December and only come out in the new year. Given all the social obligations you have, this often doesn't work out.

6. You consider fleeing abroad every year
You would actually like to emigrate just before Christmas, but since this is quite drastic, you fantasize annually about an escape to abroad. Too bad a trip to the Maldives costs so much.

7. You hate Mariah Carey because of that one song
Mariah Carey? So overrated. You actually find all Christmas songs a bit tiring, which is why Sky Radio is not turned on from November onwards.

8. You skip Christmas movies by definition
You seriously wonder why these movies come on television every year. People have seen Home Alone a thousand times by now, right? Love Actually seems like a nice movie, but you'll never find out. If there's a Christmas tree in the movie, you'd rather skip it.

9. The Christmas dinner feels like an obligation instead of something fun
Whether it's a dinner with good friends or distant family, you already feel overwhelmed at the thought of all the social obligations during the Christmas days.

10. You complain about every euro spent around this time
You didn't ask for it, yet you receive gifts for Christmas. This naturally makes you feel obliged to give something back. As a result, you end up spending your entire salary, completely against your will.
11. It feels like Christmas starts on November 1st
In theory, Christmas only lasts two days, but the whole lead-up to it feels almost worse than the celebration itself. It feels to you like Christmas starts on November 1st.

12. You seem to be the only one who thinks this way
‘Are you serious?’ is probably what people ask you when you confess that you hate Christmas. You feel like you're the only one who thinks this way. The worst part: people telling you that you should be a bit cheerier because it's almost Christmas.

13. You are counting down to January
Yes! You've survived the Christmas days, and you're quite happy about it. At the same time, you realize all too well that in less than a year, it will be the same song again. You are already mentally preparing for it.
