Onopgelost Mysterie: Kyron Horman

Unsolved mystery: Kyron Horman
Even a disclaimer upfront: this is really a rabbit hole of the highest order. Now, I have always been long-winded, but in this missing persons case, it is just not possible to go through all the ins and outs. There are so many suspicious things involved, things that don't add up, and especially things that just really don't make sense. So if you want to read everything about it, you have to — surprisingly — be at Reddit by the way, they had to dedicate three parts to it, so then you know you'll be busy with this for the rest of the evening.

Okay: the beginning. We are going to talk about the disappearance of Kyron Horman, born on September 9, 2002. His parents divorced in 2004, and then he went to live with his father Kaine Horman; his mother (Desiree Davidson) has stated that she gave up custody of both sons (she has an older son as well) due to a serious illness. That’s why Kyron went to live with his father and his girlfriend Terri Moulton.

In June 2010 (Kyron was seven years old at the time), there was a so-called science fair at school, a sort of fair-like event organized by the school, where children can showcase their creations in the field of physics. Kyron participated with a project about red-eyed tree frogs, which he made together with his stepmother Terri. Normally, Kyron took the bus to school, but on this day, Terri went along; the science fair was from eight to ten in the morning.

Around eight o'clock, Terri, Kyron, and his baby sister arrived at the school, where Terri left around a quarter to nine. And that is also the last moment Kyron was seen alive. How then? A hugely busy schoolyard, so many kids running around, teachers... And he just disappeared. Vanished. To this day, nothing has been heard from him.

Due to the crowd at the science fair, it was also difficult to speak to witnesses. Who really saw Kyron last? The schoolyard borders on woods; did he perhaps walk into the forest? If so, why? Was he lured away, taken by a stranger? If that were the case, it should have stood out in that sea of people, right? Especially if it was against his will, and it probably would be if it was a stranger. Or... Was it perhaps not a stranger?

The first accusatory fingers pointed at stepmother Terri. Malicious tongues claimed that Kyron and she did not get along at all, although there is very little evidence to support that. And besides: in what time frame would she have had to do this? She had a baby with her and was spotted at a pharmacy at nine o'clock, where she picked up medication. All day long, she was seen on cameras, seen by people, and talked to people. The time that is ‘missing’ is the time she spent in the car driving from one location to another.

Did no one at his school miss Kyron then? Certainly, and they also called his parents. However, they had the wrong phone number, and then they left it at that. So when Terri came home around a quarter to one in the afternoon, she was unaware of any trouble. It was only when father Kaine returned home from work and Kyron did not come off the bus around half past three that they immediately called 911.

The frustrating thing about this case is that there is literally no single lead. No potential suspects, no evidence, no eyewitnesses, just nasty rumors, for example, that Terri wanted to hire a hitman to have Kaine killed. However, there is no hard evidence for this, and it would also not explain why she would want to make her son (with whom she never had problems) disappear and not their baby.

Believe me: read the first part on Reddit. You will be completely drawn in. And yet I hope that Kyron will someday be found or that something more will eventually be revealed about what really happened.
