People who make their bed in the morning are more likely to have sex

When you go to bed at night: is your bed a jumble of sheets or have you neatly made your bed in the morning? It says more about your sex life than you think, according to science.

Because people who neatly make their bed in the morning have sex more often, researchers say. No less than thousands participated in this study. The survey was conducted among two thousand Americans by Sleepopolis, the American version of the Consumers’ Association, but specifically focused on mattresses and pillows.

A bit more often in bed
On average about three times a week, to be precise. In comparison: people who consistently skip making their bed have sex an average of twice a week. This has everything to do with having a clean and calm feeling when you go to sleep together at night. A tidy bedroom (including that ironed duvet, of course) works wonders for your mood, and also for your partner's mood. It also turns out that people who make their bed are more often night owls rather than morning people. Therefore, they still have some energy left for a little wild sex when it's bedtime.

Katie Ziskind, an American marriage and family therapist, explains the research clearly to Elite Daily: ‘Our living space is a reflection of our mental state. A made bed shows that you are clear-headed. Your brain loves routines. By making your bed in the morning, you close off all your thoughts after a dream, sex, or conversations to make room for a new start, a positive day.’ Going to bed with a good feeling means being relaxed, and thus there is more room for sex.

Is there more positive to say about all those bed makers? Yes. Avid bed makers also love jazz music, romantic movies, and adventurous activities.. They are confident, social, and no less than 71 percent of bed makers describe themselves as ‘happy.’.

Grumpy
There are downsides too, for anyone who is now proudly patting themselves on the back for straightening their pillowcase in the morning. Bed makers are often real sleepers and do not wake up so fit and cheerful in the morning. They often work in the business or financial world and are curious, sarcastic, shy, and occasionally in a bad mood. They can also be demanding. According to experts, about a third of people neatly make their bed when they get up in the morning. Room for improvement then?

So if you get up again and see behind you in the bedroom that your duvet is still crumpled in a ball? It certainly can't hurt to leave it neatly behind. Who knows, you might get a nice highlight back for it in the evening.
