Tested: the facial treatment you see everywhere on Instagram

You've probably seen it once in your Instagram feed with celebrities and influencers. That they are comfortably lounging in a chair and getting a facial treatment. If you pay close attention, don't you notice that these women and men all come to BLOY Institute ? Of course, I had to try this too, you understand. First a skin scan, then immediately on to a treatment that was scheduled, and before I knew it, I was stepping make-up free on my bike towards Willemsparkweg in Amsterdam. And then you think with all your serums, creams, and boosters that you're doing well... The skin specialist asks me after scanning my face if I drink enough water. I can tell you: liters of water are consumed at my home. There's even a humidifier purchased that stands right next to my desk. All to prevent that treacherous dry air and protect my skin, but apparently, this is still not enough. The moisture isn't reaching my skin, and there were some spots that were craving hydration, which was very clearly visible in the photo. The treatment my skin ultimately needed was the Meso Skin Booster.

A Meso Skin Booster is very small injections that they inject one by one into my skin via a device shaped like a ‘gun’. I'm not very sensitive, so luckily I didn't feel much of it. If you're sensitive to injections, you should try to focus on breathing as best as you can, and then it's really manageable. Because hey, who wants to be beautiful... You get it. With this treatment, they inject a delightful cocktail of hyaluronic acid, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and proteins into your skin that provides firmness and elasticity. This way, they penetrate deeper into the skin. In my cheeks, the needle went deeper than on my forehead because there's more bone there. I had never thought about this, but now that she said it, it sounds completely logical. While she injected all parts of my face (except the nose), I was reclining in a heated chair, wonderful. Because at such a moment, you really can't do anything else but breathe calmly, it immediately feels like a kind of meditation hour: perfect. The treatment ends with a face mask that feels wonderfully cooling. I'm leaving this on until tomorrow morning because all the ingredients need to penetrate well into my skin. It feels a bit strange since I create a whole ritual of my skincare routine every evening, but my skin already feels softer and looks a lot calmer than before the treatment. You might think you walk out the door with a bright red face from the little injections, but that's not the case at all. I've had one session now, and for the best results, it's best to book a course. It's costly, that's true, but everything for that most beautiful and healthiest skin, right?
