The fun facts about Virgin River

Raise your hand if you are also head over heels in love with Jack. Isn't that just everyone? Everyone who has watched Virgin River, at least. I can't wait for season three (and yessss, I know; season 2 just came out but I've already finished it) and the good news is that it is one hundred percent certain that it is coming. The bad news is that it will just take a little longer.

So until then, I entertain myself with dreaming about Jack, reading about Jack, and that sort of thing. But aside from Jack, this was the ideal series to daydream during this lockdown number two. I've wished often enough that I lived in such an idyllic village and not in a small apartment in Amsterdam where no restaurants or shops are open.

But we can keep dreaming for a while, because I've gathered the most fun facts about Virgin River (and thus about Jack). Just because it can be done. And because it's fun.

1. Virgin River may take place in California, but it is actually filmed in Canada. Our favorite Jack doesn't even come from that area; he was born in New Zealand.

2. He is off the market; Aisha Mendez managed to chain him down in May 2020.

3. You can recognize him from many things; for example, from the music video Toxic by Britney Spears and also from the horror movie The Ring (that was nightmare material back in the day), but I guess most people know him from Grey’s Anatomy.

4. But Alexandra Breckenridge is also no stranger. She starred in This Is Us, True Blood, American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, and She’s The Man. If you are really an attentive viewer, you would also recognize her voice from Family Guy.

5. There are a total of twenty books from Virgin River, so in principle, the series could go on for quite a while... Fingers crossed.

6. By the way, the author Robyn Carr thinks so too: “We go on for YEARS. We can grow old together.” Okay, that's fine.

7. Between November 30 and December 8, Virgin River was streamed 8 BILLION times on Netflix. Hooooly shitballs, that's really a lot. With that, it beat The Crown, for example.

8. Just a little about season 3: they are already done filming. WHUT? Yes, I don't dare to celebrate too early because that second season just came out... But come on, Netflix, hurry up a bit. Step on it, please?

9. Virgin River doesn't really exist but is based on the Colorado River. If you're in the area and want to see the inspiration for the books yourself, then you know where to go. Although you probably won't run into Jack. Unfortunately.
