These are the 14 best Dim Sum restaurants in the Netherlands

Dim sum

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: the best dim sum restaurants in the Netherlands.

One of my favorite activities on Sunday is to indulge in Dim Sum. And then of course just not roll out of the place because you've pretty much turned into a Dim Sum. So delicious. When I was in San Francisco – with the largest Chinatown after New York – I had breakfast several times with a hefty portion of Dim Sum. It is actually breakfast and – oh nice! – the Dim Sum restaurants in the Netherlands are also just open from early in the morning.

Whether you can get a bit of Dim Sum in the Netherlands? the real deal Definitely, at these places for example!

Tai Wu – Rotterdam
Really a household name in Rotterdam, and rightly so: you really have to try these handmade Dim Sum at least once. Is it worth a trip to Rotterdam? Absolutely. From the outside, it looks like one of those places you would have walked past, but you know what they say… That’s where you find the best and most authentic food.

Mauritsweg 24-26, Rotterdam

Asian Glories – Rotterdam
But if you make a trip to 010, just do a full Dim Sum trip and include this spot as well. Asian Glories is even recommended in the Michelin guide, so you know it's good. High-quality dishes, but especially known (at least for me) for the good Dim Sum.

Leeuwenstraat 15, Rotterdam

Full Moon City – The Hague
First, an extra tip: Full Moon is now also located in the center of Amsterdam, near Leidseplein. Make sure you go here on an empty stomach, because the menu is really gigantic. 80 (!) freshly made Dim Sum to choose from. Oh man… HEAVENLY.

Kee Lun Palace – The Hague
This doesn’t exactly look like a restaurant you would happily walk into from the outside… But don’t let that scare you off. Also, don’t be put off by the crowd, be smart and make a reservation – because that is really necessary here. Chinatown in The Hague is quite a thing and if I may believe them, this is the top spot in that area. I obviously have to test them all first for a definitive judgment.

Wagenstraat 95, The Hague

Pacifica – Utrecht
There’s a very good chance that when you ask for the best place for Dim Sum in Utrecht, you’ll get Pacifica as an answer. That has happened to me without exception, and I really have nothing to criticize about this spot. Just incredibly delicious and with a slightly more modern decor than you would expect at a Dim Sum place.

Sint Jacobsstraat 323, Utrecht

The Streetfood Club – Utrecht
Utrecht does this well anyway: presenting Dim Sum in a somewhat more modern setting. The Streetfood Club even falls under the hotspots of Utrecht in my opinion. A nice recommendation if you want to enjoy Dim Sum with a cocktail, glass of wine, or something else on the weekend if you have plans afterward. They don’t have a huge amount of Dim Sum on the menu: a lot of street food so you can also mix it with sushi or other Asian bites.

Janskerkhof 9, Utrecht

Miyagi & Jones – Utrecht
Whuuut? Uutje, what is this? I honestly find this a really nice place with super delicious food (and again a lot of other Asian bites items on the menu). As a true Amsterdammer, I must admit… Utrecht is doing quite well with these kinds of fun hotspots. We can still learn a lot from them.

Oriental City – Amsterdam
But, to be honest… when it comes to Dim Sum, I think Amsterdam might just be the nicest city. Oriental City is of course a real institution, and rightly so. Truly a traditional Dim Sum, without fuss, just how it should be. And my God, how delicious.

Oudezijds Voorburgwal 177-179, Amsterdam

Sea Palace – Amsterdam
Well, you really have to visit this place at least once, right? A floating Chinese restaurant, with real Asian vibes inside, but also a nice terrace with a view over Amsterdam… What does the food even matter then? Well, that food – it’s just incredibly good here.

Oosterdokskade 8, Amsterdam

Chin Chin Club – Amsterdam
Okay, to be very honest: you might not go here for the absolute best Dim Sum. But definitely for just tasty Dim Sum, and especially if you feel like a real night out. There’s always a party here after dinner time and I, as an absolute opponent of techno, always have a great time here.

Kwong Chow – Arnhem
I can count on one hand how many times I’ve been to Arnhem, but I’m always surprised by how nice this city actually is. For a weekend getaway, I can genuinely recommend this and you guessed it: finish it off on Sunday with a Dim Sum lunch at this spot.

Steenstraat 83, Arnhem

Wen Chow – Maastricht
I find Maastricht a bit more fun (sorry, Arnhem) and that’s mainly because I always eat well here. The first few times I always went to the same restaurant, the last few times I’ve broadened my horizons and of course had to test Dim Sum as well. This one came out as the winner.

Spoorweglaan 5, Maastricht

Yong Kee – Maastricht
But this one is also worth a mention, you know. I must honestly say that even I was momentarily brought into slight doubt by the exterior. But then I thought to myself: ‘then the food must be good’. And indeed, that was true again. So don't go here for the atmosphere, but absolutely for the food.

Boschstraat 58, Maastricht

New Oriental – Eindhoven
A completely separate menu for Dim Sum here, so you already know in advance that choosing will be difficult. And indeed. So. Many. Options. Even a considerable number of sweet Dim Sum, which I haven't dared to try yet. Maybe next time.

Heuvel Galerie 103, Eindhoven

Happy Dim Summing!
