This toaster is made from used frying oil

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: this new toaster from Philips is made from used frying oil.

Ho stop, wait, what?! Yes, you read that right: frying oil turns out to be a great product to recycle and create a beautiful and sustainable breakfast set from. That is exactly what Philips has done: the world’s first breakfast set made from 100 percent biobased plastics is a fact.

How does that work with sustainability? Eelco Smit, Sustainability Leader at Philips Domestic Appliances explains: ‘By using biobased plastics made from used frying oil, we contribute to reducing CO2 emissions, help reduce water pollution, limit the total use of soil resources (which means a lower impact on food production), and develop products with recyclable parts. It is our ambition to evolve into a complete range of products designed with sustainability in mind.’
