This is what you missed at the Golden Globes

Because we are still in corona, I actually assume that nothing is going to happen at all. No festivals, no parties, many films and series are delayed, that kind of thing. So I was actually quite surprised when I read yesterday that the Golden Globes were that same evening. I completely missed that.
And of course it was a slightly different edition than usual. Everyone in a different location, a kind of Zoom meeting 2.0 where everyone happened to look particularly good. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler took on the presentation again (both of whom were also in different locations), but there was a red carpet present, so all in all it still felt like a spectacular evening.
It was striking that Emily In Paris had received quite a few nominations. It was also a decent distraction, don’t get me wrong, but really Golden Globe material? Not really. So it won’t surprise you that that series was not the big winner of the evening, that honor went to The Crown. It won the award for best series and best actor and actress, among others. Furthermore, Chadwick Boseman posthumously won an award for best actor in a drama film (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom) and I have quite a list of films and series that I still need to see. Ted Lasso for example (for which Jason Sudeikis won an award), the new Borat and Schitt’s Creek. I’m going to be busy with that.

In terms of beautiful outfits, this year was also a bit different; not everyone was present on the red carpet. Amanda Seyfried, Sarah Paulson, and Jane Levy were for example just photographed inside. Other stars like Margot Robbie, Gal Gadot, Salma Hayek, and Jane Fonda were present on the red carpet.
All in all, I have to honestly say that if you didn’t watch, you didn’t miss much. The beautiful outfits can of course be found online, the legendary afterparties… Well, those didn’t happen at all. So in the end, it was an award ceremony where the vast majority was dressed up watching from the couch. Hopefully next year it will be back to ‘normal’? And then some juicy gossip about the events at the afterparties, please.
