This is what you want in 2025: 7 Greek islands in one vacation

By

If there are two things I believe in wholeheartedly, they are the Greek islands and the phenomenon of ‘vacation in your vacation’. Because why limit yourself to one place when you can experience seven magical Greek islands in one trip? Exactly. From Kos you can easily hop to six other gems. Welcome to the ultimate island-hopping vacation of 2025.

1. Start your journey in Kos

In just over three hours, you fly to the lovely Kos, your base for this trip. Kos is a cyclist's paradise meets food heaven. The coastal route by bike is a party in itself, and the old town is one that steals your heart. Tip: stay here for a few days to enjoy a culinary mix of Greek, Ottoman, and Venetian influences.

2. Continue your route to Kalymnos

Kalymnos is rugged and charming at the same time. The island still thrives on sponge trade and is perfect for those who love climbing, diving, and unspoiled nature. Be sure to visit the fjord of Vathi (yes, a fjord in Greece!) and enjoy the fact that there are still no masses of tourists around.

3. Dive into history in Leros

Leros is your cultural stop. Here you will find lovely beaches and the impressive castle of Panteli. With its Italian influences, charming harbor, and relaxed atmosphere, Leros is the place to slow down your pace and enjoy Greek history in a Mediterranean setting.

4. Fall in love with Lipsi

Lipsi is small, white-blue, and oh so sweet. You sail from Leros straight to this hidden gem. The white houses, blue domes, and quiet beaches make Lipsi ideal for a day trip or an overnight stay. Bonus: everything here is within walking distance. Handy and cozy.

5. Marvel in Patmos

Patmos is magical. Religious heritage, cosmopolitan flair, and a warm welcome from the locals: this island has it all. Must-see: the Monastery of John and the Cave of the Apocalypse. But also just: getting lost in the streets of Chora, a glass of ouzo in your hand and a view of the sea.

6. Relaxing on the slow Ikaria

Need a break between all the hopping? Then Ikaria is your resting point. This island is known for its thermal springs and... the secret to a long life. You literally and figuratively immerse yourself in peace. And who knows, you might come home feeling reborn.

7. End sunny on Samos

Last but not least: Samos. This island is perfect to conclude your trip. Think: white beaches, charming villages, and the photogenic harbor town of Pythagoreion. Set off early to beat the crowds and end your trip with a splash in the turquoise sea.
