Burning calories without exercising

burning calories without exercising

Outside it is getting colder and gloomier. In other words: I am already greedily lying on the couch with bags full of white pepernoten under my way too tight fleece blanket from Action. You won't hear me complain. We can start working on our winter body again and that's why I have been looking for a number of easy ways to burn calories without exercising. Almost all of them can be done while watching Netflix. Of course, you have to forget about those white pepernoten for a moment.

1. Drink tea
It doesn't get cozier than this. Experts discovered a substance (polyphenols) in green tea that speeds up your metabolism, allowing you to burn more calories. You need to drink about three to eight cups a day to see results. So go ahead and brew a big pot.

2. Sleep
According to the Nutrition Center, you burn 0.9 calories per hour. When you multiply this by your weight, you know how much you burn per hour. The longer you sleep, the better. Good for your metabolism and your mood. Sounds ideal.

3. Stand
Just keep standing. Walking a bit is of course even better, but by standing you burn about 50 more calories than when you sit. Maybe try watching a series while standing?

4. Take a bath
This option might be the most appealing to me. Unfortunately, I don't have a bath. The hotter the water, the harder your body has to work to keep everything at temperature. A bath at 40 degrees means you can burn about 130 calories in an hour. Sounds quite long. And hot.

5. Fidget
Playing with your hair, tapping your fingers on the table, moving your feet: it can be anything. Research has shown that with this fidgeting you can burn about 350 calories over an entire day. Quite logical as well: after all, it's a very light form of cardio.
