Vandaag bezoeken we Venster 33

Under the guise of ‘support your locals’, I have a tip for you today that comes straight from my heart. Because everyone who knows me a little knows where to find me on weekends. Well, actually often during the week too. Many joke that it has become my second living room by now and I actually have to agree with them. I feel at home there and I must say: they serve much better food there than at my place. And no matter how hard I try, I can't make a Moscow Mule as well as they do for me there. And that is definitely my biggest weakness.

I'm talking about the nicest place in Amsterdam: Venster 33 in the Pijp, right by the Gerard Douplein. Why has it been my regular spot for about five years now? Of course because of those Moscow Mules, but also because of the nice staff who always do their best (I've filled in there once and my god, it can be so busy so hats off if you always stand there cheerfully at the table) and of course because of the food.

Because the menu is really top-notch; considering how often I go there, I actually test it too little. I often get stuck on the snacks and then I find a liquid dinner a good plan (isn't it). You absolutely want to try the tatsuta from the snacks (fried Japanese chicken thighs with sriracha mayonnaise, truly addictively delicious) and if you are wiser than I am, definitely try the vegan burger or the steak. Ooh, the vegan ravioli is also really a recommendation. Okay, maybe I know the menu a bit better than I thought…

So if you're in the mood for a Sunday afternoon drink (that is honestly my favorite afternoon to have drinks) and you're near Amsterdam: this is your place. Cosiness guaranteed.
