Vandaag lezen we vogeleiland van Marion Pauw

From page four, I was totally into it. The story. At that point, I also knew that I was going to neglect my household, boyfriend, and cats in the days to come. Bird Island opened up, and after about five minutes, the movie in my head started to play. I was also in that place. I was also worried about Marianne, who ran away from home at fifteen and never let anyone hear from her again.

Without too many spoilers: the rebellious Marianne voluntarily goes with a man. And from there, you step into a film that keeps you engaged until the very last page. Told from different perspectives, you as a reader get to know more and more of Marianne's story. You are tossed back and forth between hope and fear, love and cruelty, sympathy and antipathy. All you want is for the TRUTH to come to light. Ugh Marion, you did it again. Masterpiece. Throw it here in your basket.
