I looooove some spicy food. The only downside is that I can't handle it very well. In other words, sweating from all pores, runny nose, completely red, unable to find your words, that kind of stuff. Maybe an awkward combination, because I still enjoy eating spicy food. Everywhere, in my opinion, sambal should be added. And I prefer not to buy it in supermarkets, but I scour the Amsterdam stores. Or well, I don't do that anymore either. Now I get it from the Samballerie.
This little business was started by Robin, who is probably the biggest spicy food lover you will encounter. It works out extra well that she also knows how to make all kinds of sambal herself. So you can buy in her online shop of course Sambal Oelek and Sambal Badjak, but also sambal from Madame Jeanette, delicious hot chili flakes, Carolina Reaper chili oil, and peach chutney. And you can also get all of these extra hot if you want.
Under the motto of #supportyourlocals, I started this and I am now a loyal customer/fan because these sambals are so much tastier than the ones I bought before. Be sure to check out her Instagram, where she regularly shares recipes from her grandparents, who come from Indonesia. Various recipes for your homemade satay sauce, soto ayam (love it) and nasi goreng, for example. I'm going to become a little kitchen princess with this, you don't want to know. Well, a very spicy kitchen princess of course.
