These home office outfits we bought en masse last year

Since we all landed in the corona craziness last year, our buying behavior has completely flipped. Tight suits and high heels were no longer necessary, and with the prospect of not returning to the workplace anytime soon, loungewear became the new uniform behind the laptop. I mean, if even a hashtag emerges with #ondernemeninpyjama, you know you're not the only one who lived in a favorite pair of sweatpants for months, right?
Research into various sales figures shows that there was a significant decline (of 47 percent) in the sales of blazers, and bras were also thrown around at home en masse, as they were sold 54 percent less. That's a huge amount more sold? Joggingwear. With an average of 349 percent, hoodies were sold more, and for jogging pants, that figure is 274 percent. Besides the highly coveted hoodie and jogging pants, it’s the floaty pants, sports bras, leggings, soft sweaters, and knitted lounge sets that we shopped for en masse online. Comfort first it is, and now you’re probably curious if this will still be the case with summer on the horizon.
The answer is: yes. It seems the comfy trend is continuing with linen blouses, high-waisted wide pants, oversized jackets, boilersuits and comfortable grandpa style-like sandals. And although the above shoes may not be the perfect match for a comeback at the office, we certainly aren’t saying goodbye to loungewear in the workplace post-corona. Because you understand: now that we’ve spent a whole year in comfortable stuff, it seems almost inhumane that we would once again don tight jackets and pencil skirts.
Various trend watchers predict a future where luxury loungewear takes center stage. Some say we are heading towards a new roaring twenties where we can finally dress all the way again. Others believe that now that we have tasted the ultimate comfort, we will ensure that clothing is both stylish and comfortable. Long story short: glamour with a touch of comfort is the new fashion motto. And I don’t know about you, but that sounds more than nice to us.
