Just about Reinout Oerlemans
and John de Mol
And that house, that house

On Friday, I was spinning in front of the screen, ready with my favorite bingo card (nice house, Frank Evenblij, Daniëlle Oerlemans, Los Angeles, handsome children, little dogs, everything). To begin with, I was very curious about the house, because Daniëlle Oerlemans works like a kind of interior fairy over there in LA. She renovated their previous house so grandly that The Weeknd paid a messy 65 million for it. That's quite a nice earning in three years. Aside from renovating and decorating and being incredibly active with the kids, I see Daniëlle being very much involved in the LA community. It's hugging with Gwyneth on the left and Insta-friends with Kylie Richards (at least, they follow each other so they know each other), but in the meantime also taking care of two squirrels (yes, really) and laying a rose on the grave of their angel son Reinout. A woman of flesh, blood, and above all, one with a big heart. Anyway, that was Daniëlle. Then I wanted to see the house and the children. Wonderful that they spoke accentless Dutch (although I would certainly have forgiven them a slight accent) and that they were uncomplicated, sporty kids. I won't forget a shot where a daughter says she has only seen Dik Trom from her father's productions and where Daniëlle watches contentedly in the background.

But further, this Evenblij makes Friends was mainly about Reinout Oerlemans. About his GTST past (‘extremely famous but not a cent to make’), his relationship with John de Mol (‘not my way of doing business, that won't work out anymore’), his heart attack (‘in the ambulance, someone held my hand, I will never forget that’), about his work ethic (‘I am a bit nervous, we have worked so hard on this pitch’) and just at 07:00 in the morning in the car to the office, huh.

To top it all off, Reinout was appointed Honorary Consul in LA and they hosted 250 Dutch entrepreneurs and three ministers plus the mayor of LA in their garden this weekend. Now that Doutzen is retired, I would like to crown the Oerlemans family as our national pride abroad.
Chapeau.
