Wow: American Airlines is going to fly with these airplanes

My goodness, this is not good for my fear of flying, you know. I still find it terrifying to step into a large Boeing, but this... This new supersonic plane looks like a fighter jet, but from 2029 you can book a seat with American Airlines; they have actually ordered twenty of them.

They look quite exciting, and these things also go much faster than the planes currently in use. This way, the flight time of transatlantic flights can be halved by using these planes. Hoooly shit, you would be the pilot of that. You have to control such a beast that goes no less than 2100 (!) kilometers per hour. They are quite a bit smaller than the Boeings by the way: they can carry about 65 to 80 passengers at a time.

These planes are called Overture, and besides the first batch, American Airlines has also placed an option for another forty units. Will this really become the new way of flying?

It does seem a bit like it, because United Airlines and Japan Airlines also plan to acquire supersonic planes. Side note: am I the only one who didn't know that the word ‘supersonic’ means ‘moving faster than sound’? That in seven years we will just be flying in vehicles that break the sound barrier, I find it quite something.

To be honest: they do look really cool, that much is true. But not a hair on my head thinks about getting on board. Noooo way.
