The 6 biggest wedding trends of the moment

We are allowed again: being together, partying, dancing, and even hugging is back in grace. So where many requests were on pause, weddings are now taking off and we celebrate that exuberantly, as evidenced by the new wedding trends.

1. The anti-trend

Everything is fine and anything goes, so whether you want to walk into the church backwards or wait for your partner to walk in first, that's totally fine. No rings and no bouquet, just a reception and then straight on to the honeymoon; your love, your choice.

2. Full wedding weekends

In principle, this can also happen entirely in your own hometown (which fits very well with the eco trend, but more on that later), but the idea is to celebrate fully. So a drink and dinner the night before the wedding, maybe a fun activity on the day itself, and of course a day after brunch to gently recover from the champagne tower (more on that later) and all the delightful little adventures.

3. Table setting is key

No, you can't just get away with white linen and some rose petals anymore. Nonsense of course (see point 1), but the trend is that a lot of attention is paid to the styling of the table. Beautiful plates, different candles, lots of small bouquets (preferably in different vases); the table look is more important than the wall decoration. You can keep that simple.

4. With love for the earth

So no paper invites, but digital ones, and no balloons released into the air. Flowers that you take to a nursing home the next day and food that is delivered to the Salvation Army the next day. As a gift, you ask for a contribution to a good cause and eat in a restaurant that cooks with local vegetables and products.

5. Delightfully formal

When do you ever wear something ankle-length and the man a tailcoat? Now is the time. The era of sweatpants and comfort wear is over, so we find it a joy to dress up again.

6. Guest in the spotlight

Handwritten notes, personalized goodie bags, pimped hotel rooms with their favorite drink in the minibar. Your wedding is the moment to let your friends know how much you care about them.
