Wiekes weetjes: 10 bizarre feitjes waar je versteld van gaat staan

It's time for some bizarre facts that will definitely impress you. But first, you need to process them yourself, because some of them are quite remarkable. Yes, I've done my best for you again, because many of these facts may sound fake, but they are not. I've already put a warning on number eight, but I'll do that here as well: it's really click at your own risk. I've already given my Amayzine colleagues nightmares with this.
1. The period during which dinosaurs lived is so long that dinosaur fossils existed while they were still around.
To make it even weirder: dinosaurs existed from the Triassic period until the end of the Cretaceous period. In other words, that's THREE times as long as from the Cretaceous period to now. The Tyrannosaurus Rex lived closer to the invention of the iPad than to the period in which the Stegosaurus lived. And that's not even a small difference; we're talking about a difference of ten million years.
2. When you dream, there is one part of your brain that creates the storyline, while another part experiences the events and doesn't see the different plot twists coming.
How funny is that? By the way, they are not completely separate from each other, as the storylines can change depending on your emotional reactions to certain twists.
3. About 99.85 percent of all mass in our solar system is found in the sun.
Holy shitballs. I have an extreme fascination with everything related to space, and I am amazed every time at how incredibly vast it is, and how much of it is just complete nothingness. BRB, I'm back in an existential crisis.
4. The giant manta is larger and heavier than a normal car.
And this is a ray, okay. In English, this creature is called the manta ray, and it is really intense. I've only seen it in photos where it stands alone, so you have little comparison material, but these creatures are about 4.5 meters long and 7 meters wide. Their weight? Up to 3000 kilos. And it really looks bizarre next to a diver.
5. If all the DNA from an average person were stretched out in a single line, it would reach the sun. And back again. And this 248 times. In other words, twice the diameter of our solar system.
And yes, that's really very long.
6. If the complete history of the Earth were compressed into one day, humanity would only appear in the last second before midnight.
I always find this so fascinating, and it does have something to do with the first point. The Earth has existed for so long, and I feel like I don't often reflect on that enough.
7. There are four times as many unique ways to shuffle a standard deck of playing cards as there are atoms in the Milky Way.
And I mean a deck of 52 cards. Curious how that works? You can read it here. Mind = blown.
8. Tumors can grow hair, teeth, bones, and muscles.
Terrifying. And it looks like that too. Click at your own risk.
9. Time is not necessarily linear.
At least, if we are to believe Stephen Hawking.. I've read a number of his books lately: I find it incredibly interesting and I understand what it says, but I don't get it. I find this such a bizarre concept that it can really give me a headache.
10. For every human cell in our body, there is one bacterial cell opposite it.
In that respect, we are therefore half human and half bacteria.. In fact: it was first thought that the bacterial cells were even in the majority.
