7x why we love Blake Lively so much

photo of Blake LivelyBlake is celebrating her birthday, I can probably call her Blake for a moment. Lively is exactly 35 years alive and kicking today. A great reason to pay a small tribute to this woman. This is why we love Blake Lively so much, because this woman is delightful.

1. Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds are by far the cutest couple on Instagram. They spare no opportunity to throw each other under the bus with unflattering photos, but everything is delivered with humor. By the way, did you know that she once went on a double date with him and he wasn't her date? Quite funny.

2. Because Blake gave us Serena in Gossip Girl and that was really all we needed in our lives. You were either Serena or Blair and I could identify just a bit more with Serena, minus that apartment on the Upper East Side and those designer bags. By the way, Blake almost didn't get the role because they thought she was too sunny California for New York.

3. A little more about Lively and Reynolds. It's not always sunshine and rainbows between the two and Blake makes that clear to the world. For instance, her husband impulsively bought a whole football team and Blake was not amused, Reynolds said on The Jimmy Kimmel Show. According to Blake, Reynolds knows nothing about football and that's why she thought it was a stupid investment by her husband. So they're still working on that.

4. Blake seems to have made it a habit to first be friends with a potential love. She had been friends with GG co-star Penn Badgley for years, but also with Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds once said that the best foundation for a relationship is to start as friends.

5. Let's not forget that Blake herself is quite the fashionista. Just think of her vavavoom dresses at the MET Gala, the times she showed her inner Serena van der Woodsen in the streets of New York, or the moment she appeared on the red carpet in a Ralph Lauren suit. With Blake Lively, there's always something to gawk at.

6. She generously donates to charities. This year she, along with Reynolds, donated 1 million dollars to the UN for housing Ukrainian refugees, but that was certainly not the first time. She donated to food banks during the corona crisis, but she also sometimes gives to people whose stories touch her.

7. Blake is crazy about Greek food and apparently hosts real parties at home where she shoves one pita after another down her throat. Look, that's exactly why I already love this woman.

8. And one more then: because Blake played with Michiel Huisman in The Age of Adaline and that is pretty much my name. I understand that not everyone can relate to this point, by the way, but I do feel it quite strongly myself.
