Celebrities who are doing something completely different

I used to dream of becoming famous, but now I don't mind so much that it didn't work out. Upon reflection, it all seems quite intense, especially if you're famous in the United States. But hey, you can always just stop and do something else, right? Definitely. These celebs did.

1. Benjamin McKenzie

Famous as Ryan from The O.C. (what a delightful series that was) and later he also played a leading role in Gotham. Nowadays, he is working to combat cryptocurrencies and is writing a book about why you should never venture into crypto.

2. Akon

The singer of hits like Sexy B*tch and I Just Had Sex is now focusing on other things: for example, providing electricity and wifi to all of Africa. What? Yes, who would have thought; his foundation Akon Lighting Africa has been active for years, and successfully.

3. Tom Green

Do we still know him or am I really becoming a grandma here? He was married to Drew Barrymore, made films like Freddy Got Fingered, and was mainly just a real weirdo. Nowadays, he lives in a cabin in the woods, literally. He lives in nature just outside Ottawa (Canada) and organizes activities like picnics. Cute.

4. Taboo (Black Eyed Peas)

I actually didn't even know that the Black Eyed Peas were still seriously together, but Taboo probably isn't too sad about it. He is now making comic books for Marvel.

5. Peter Ostrum (Charlie from the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory)

He did one role (and that movie was quite a hit) and then straight away said goodbye to acting. What has he become? A veterinarian for livestock.

6. Tom DeLonge (Blink 182)

One of the two lead singers of Blink 182 left the band years ago, and to be honest, I thought he had become a bit of a strange bird. It turns out he now runs a pretty big company researching UFOs. Notably, his company To The Stars recently received no less than $750,000 from the U.S. government.

7. Chris Colfer (Glee)

This actor escaped the curse of Glee and is now an author of children's books. It's a shame he doesn't sing anymore, because he had one of the best voices in the entire cast.

8. Allison Mack (Smallville)

This one is grim: Allison Mack stopped her acting career to join the NXIVM cult, whose leader Keith Raniere was convicted in 2019 for sex trafficking and extortion. Allison Mack was quite high up in the ranks at NXIVM and is still in custody.
