Why Charles shudders
Harry and Meghan's Netflix docu is even worse than thought

If, like me, you watch The Crown, then you pretty much know what tipsy game members of the royal family are. Charles suddenly, years later, reading in the newspaper how he told Camilla he wanted to live in her trousers or, better still, be her tampon. Caught by chance by a man with ‘a bakkie’ (you know, which people could use to follow the channels of ambulances and police cars), who immediately sold it to the newspaper. The newspaper still had something of a conscience and didn't think it was proper to publish the transcript while Charles was still married. But once he was divorced, yes, then it all didn't matter and this bucket of misery could be poured out as well. Anyway, just to point out that at an unexpected moment a huge piece can pop up in the media that could destroy you or at least shoot huge holes in your defensive wall.
In this case, that attack almost comes from within. His own son Harry and his daughter-in-law Meghan do an inside job on the royal family. Whereas people initially thought the documentary would disappoint (in a lot of places they went, the camera was not welcome), three days before its release on Netflix, it seems to be an exciting affair after all. According to an insider at Netflix, everyone at Buckingham Palace is ready to take this hit. Several employees are ready to watch the various episodes simultaneously as soon as possible, and advisers are ready to work with Charles to prepare a counter-response. The Netflix employee is mouthing words like ‘explosive’ and ‘extremely damaging’.
What the reason was for Harry and Meghan to make this documentary may be clear: lots of millions that will allow them to continue living in America (with expensive security) and, above all, to prove them right. By the way, they themselves hope that when all the dust has settled it will still be able to lead to a reconciliation.
Those hopes seem fairly vain to me, but who am I?
The Netflix docu about Harry and Meghan will be available on Netflix from 8 December.
